What is a Legal
Document Assistant ("LDA")?
LDA's are subject to equivalent educational and training criteria as Paralegals. In addition, LDA's are required, by California law, to be Registered and Bonded in the county of their principal place of business. An LDA is an experienced and highly trained professional who is authorized to prepare legal documents for, and at the direction of, the client. LDA's are an invaluable resource because due to our extensive experience and in-depth training, we can help you foresee and prevent potential pitfalls and make sure every important detail is accounted for to ensure a smooth transaction. Please Note: A Legal Document Assistant is NOT a Lawyer. By law, they cannot give you legal advice or represent you in the courts in any matter. For your protection, you should always be sure to ask the person you are considering of retaining the following questions:
If a person is acting as an LDA
but is not Registered and Bonded, they are operating illegally in
California.
